2025 ADELAIDE GALA FESTIVAL:

The recent Adelaide Festival concluded on an exceptionally successful financial note, in summary:

  • Income                              $63,302.29
  • Expenses                          $39,038.15
  • Net profit                          $24,264.14

I invite members, either whole-choir or individuals to respond with feedback, bouquets or brickbats on any aspect of the MCAA’s triennial massed male choirs concert agenda. I will add responses to those unsolicited reactions already received. Please send your feedback to me at: neilfleming549@gmail.com by Thursday, 7th August 2025. Your committee will be meeting again on Friday, 8th August and I plan to report your feedback at that time before outlining it in the next Bulletin to all members.

However, on behalf of the several MCAA Committees since 2020, I do take considerable pride in reporting such a significant profit. Everyone will recall the challenges of the pandemic period, the several postponements of the last Sydney festival, the anticipated financial loss in proceeding with the Sydney concert before the eventual greater-than-anticipated financial loss in 2022. But, musically, we grasped the momentum generated by the 2022 Sydney concert to project towards the Adelaide Festival with the exceptional leadership and management recommendations of our Adelaide colleagues. I look forward to your comments.

VIDEO/SOUND RECORDING OPTION:

You are all reminded that the MMCSA contracted for the concert to be recorded. Festival MD Evan Patton will edit and ensure all copyright and licensing imperatives can be met before producing a final product. MMCSA will inform on progress towards the final product so that all choirs/members can order copies directly from MMCSA when available (hopefully in the $10-$15 range).

PHOTOGRAPHS:

As advertised on the back cover of the Concert Program, together with QR code, event photographer, Andrew Dickman has posted his work for sale on his website at: andrew-dickman.pixels.com Click on Collections then Choir. Your committee will be purchasing photographs for inclusion on the MCAA website and to help promote Perth 2028. You are encouraged to peruse the photos and place your orders directly with Andrew Dickman.

PERTH 2028:

Your committee will commence future planning for Perth 2028 from its next meeting on 8th August.

Cheers

NEIL FLEMING

President
