MCAA BULLETIN 5 NOVEMBER 2025
Your committee met via Zoom last Friday, 14th November for its final 2025 meeting.
2025 Adelaide concert recording orders:
Orders were expected to be mailed in the week beginning 3rd November.
Our Adelaide colleagues continue to work on completing this task. This has been a bigger and more involved task than expected. One company did the actual recording at the concert. A second company then produced the recording and the DVDs have been completed. The USBs, however, have gone to a third company and finalisation there is “ïmminent”. Festival MD, Evan Patton will then check the final product for his tick of approval before Neil Forrest mails each choir’s bulk order to nominated addresses. Neil will email each contact when orders are dispatched from Adelaide together with invoices.
2028 Perth Festival:
The Repertoire Selection Panel (RSP) will hold its second Zoom meeting next Monday, 24th November. The MCAA Committee has accepted the Panel’s recommendation to group selections as follows: one-third from the immediate past festival (i.e. 4-5 items from Adelaide), one-third from any MCAA Festival prior to Adelaide and one-third new selections for the MCAA.
Because the MCAA will revert in 2028 to staging its festival in the latter part of the year (almost certainly early September), more time is available to plan and manage the event. The RSP is confident that it will complete all of its work in recommending a broad, balanced and entertaining repertoire including copyright and licensing protocols in sufficient time in 2026, enabling printing and delivery of Song Books and online versions by September 2026, two years before performance date.
Initial tasks and inquiries have been commenced by the Perth Organising Committee in conjunction with representatives from the MCAA Committee.
MCAA Newsletter:
Last Bulletin, a request went out seeking a volunteer to coordinate information and promotions from member choirs in an attempt to increase inter-choir relations and broaden awareness. Your committee was delighted to receive John Spencer’s (Orange MVC) offer to assume this role. Indeed, John was quickly off the mark in contacting all choirs’ contacts to advertise his role and seek initial contributions to the first Newsletter that John wishes to distribute before the end of 2025.
Some choirs have already communicated with John and submitted items for inclusion. Can I encourage all choirs to participate in this venture and liaise with John at spannaman@me.com I remind all choirs that the last AGM enthusiastically endorsed such inter-choir sentiments.
Season’s Greetings:
The MCAA finishes 2025 in good shape thanks to a highly successful Adelaide Festival. We have thanked and recognized our Adelaide colleagues for their prodigious efforts. Your committee wishes all choristers the very best for the holiday season and for 2026. I suspect all choirs have full calendars as they wind down to the end of the year.
