MCAA Bulletin 9 – non-Adelaide concert related items

Less than two months to performance day in Adelaide. But three non-Adelaide concert related items below:

  1. MCAA ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Your committee has decided to take advantage of many members being present in Adelaide for the concert and hold the AGM on Saturday, 24th May 2025 at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre commencing approximately 3.15pm or as soon after the rehearsal for choristers concludes. A room at the AEC, capable of accommodating 50-60 persons is booked for the purpose.

Member choirs are asked to distribute this notice to all chorister members and to request the presence of at least 2-3 members at the AGM. The usual Zoom link will be available for those choristers unable to attend in person. Secretary Peter O’Driscoll will soon distribute the necessary AGM documentation. Choristers are asked to consider nominating for committee positions for 2025-26.

  1. NEXT MCAA FESTIVAL??

The upcoming Adelaide concert is expected to be a resounding success! But where after that?

Considerable thought and enquiry have gone into this question over the past 12 months and I’m pleased to report that the Perth Male Voice Choir is prepared to consider hosting the next MCAA festival in Perth in (probably) either May or September 2028. BUT – Perth blokes wish, not unreasonably, to be assured that choirs from around the country will, in principle, support and attend in 2028. To that end, all member choirs are requested to survey their memberships regarding notional numbers expected to be on stage in Perth sometime in 2028.

Yes, I can hear the hopes of still being alive, healthy and kicking but I encourage all members to presume the best positive circumstances – this is purely an indicative poll. If insufficient support is forthcoming, your committee will consider other options.

Please have your choir’s survey/straw poll numbers to Peter O’Driscoll at jpod@bigpond.net.au  by 30th April 2025.

  1. ADELAIDE MCAA GALA DINNER, Adelaide Convention Centre, after the concert

Final bookings and payment for the post-Concert dinner have been requested about now. Adelaide organisers’ liaison with the ACC has enabled an extension of that timeline to Thursday, 17th April 2025 (day before Good Friday).

Choristers performing in Adelaide are encouraged to join colleagues and friends after the concert at an iconic Adelaide venue to celebrate what will be a wonderful weekend of massed male choirs’ singing. $80 pp payment to your choir’s contact person as per the previous notice detailing dinner arrangements. Looking forward to seeing most choristers there!

Cheers
