Welcome to the MCAA web site

BULLETIN 14

The Festival of massed male voices being presented by the MCAA in the Sydney Town Hall on Sunday, 30th October 2022 is all A-GO!! Friendship in song indeed!

The MCAA Committee met on Friday 19th August 2022 via Zoom to report progress on numerous actions by the Sydney Organising Committee and to ensure overall approvals.

Requisite deposits and bonds have been paid to the Sydney Town Hall to confirm our booking of the venue.

Thank you to all member choirs for your returns surveying numbers of participating choristers and their parts. Latest numbers are between 190-200 choristers on stage on the day, a very pleasing and promising response given the hurdles thrown during the past two years.

A promotional flyer is almost complete. The flyer will be sent to all choirs by Saturday, 27th August at the latest when the online link with Trybooking should be confirmed. Choirs are encouraged to disseminate the flyer immediately to choristers and all members. The flyer can be easily distributed further as an attachment to an email to all mailing lists, friends and family. All tickets must be purchased online through the Trybooking link, or at the door on the day by cash or card.

Your committee will survey each choir again in mid-September seeking confirmation or changes to expected numbers of participants in each part. You will appreciate that such statistics are vital for logistics of stage management and seating.

Comprehensive details will be distributed to all choirs well ahead of time regarding planning, timing, directions, uniforms, change rooms, Covid mitigation protocols, ticketing, and local food outlets in the CBD adjacent to the STH. Meanwhile, I trust that you have arranged accommodation and transport for the weekend of the 29-30th October in Sydney.

Similarly, responses for the Saturday evening dinner at the York Club have been excellent. Separate details about the dinner will include menu options, number of courses, dietary provisions and prices. Each participating choir will be expected to manage collection of money and orders from their own choristers and make one remittance to the MCAA Treasurer.

Attendances of all accompanying artists and the Willoughby Brass Band have been confirmed. A festival program is in the throes of completion. A copy will be available free of charge to each chorister and audience member on the day.

My copy of the “Red Book” is just holding up on its spiral binding! Our Red Books will have done sterling service by the time of the festival. Not long to go now. We are at the pointy end of the business! Best wishes for your rehearsals and polishing techniques.

Cheers
