Seasons greetings to one and all.

An update on the 2020 Sydney concert

Thanks to the efforts of the MCAA committee we are well ahead of our timelines.

What we have achieved to date is:-
• We have a venue, Sydney Town Hall
• We have contracted one of Australia’s foremost conductors, Paul Jarman.
We have contracted an accompanist Peter Cunniffe, a soprano Anita Kyle, a violinist Amanda Chen, and an organist Robert Fox.
• We have issued the music books and we will have the rehearsal tracks uploaded to our website shortly. These tracks have been produced by member choirs and I extend our thanks to those involved.
• We have the Willoughby Brass Band to support the concert.
• We have a Project Team established and led by our Treasurer Peter O’Driscoll and supported by Neil Fleming, our Vice President, and members of Cantorion, Sydney MC, Ku-Ring-Gai MC and the Arcadians.
• They will plan all the events around the Sydney Festival, the rehearsal timings at Pitt St Uniting Church, the Gala dinner, concert logistics and an afterglow, which was most enjoyable in Wollongong.

We have secured funding for a conductor’s workshop led by our concert MD Paul Jarman, thanks to the good work of our secretary Brian Buckley. The grant has been made possible by funding from Create NSW and the NSW government.

So in essence, all we have to do is learn the repertoire and turn up in Sydney for a memorable concert.

I look forward to our gathering in Sydney next year.
Kind regards
Brother in song,
